does anyone know about how long it takes to get nicotine out of the system?
quit on thursay.... 1st two days were hell and i was an irritable biaaaaaaaatch. doing okay now... just dont really know how to deal with the normal-day things... like going outside for lunch to smoke and work a cross-word at the same time. i just don't seem to enjoy lunch quite as much. anyone else experience this? how'd u deal with it? its just a disapointment i didnt expect to deal with... the withdrawal yes, but the actual not having a cigarette during these times... well it just didn't click.

Re: does anyone know...
Mon, September 26, 2005 - 12:58 PMThe problem is that, even though you are having a nice lunch and filling yourself up, your body is still not satisfied. A smoke after a meal is a classic, and a hard part of the habit to break.

Mon, September 26, 2005 - 2:24 PMFrom the book I read, they said about 2-3 weeks... I think that's what they said... Or that was the time fro when the cravings would go away... NOT! I still have cravings after almost 2 years.
Actually you will enjoy lunch more after a while. You won't need that after meal smoke.

Re: does anyone know...
Mon, September 26, 2005 - 5:05 PMFrom what I know it takes about 48 hours for the nicotine to leave your system and about 2 weeks for the initial killer cravings to subside.
You will enjoy your lunch more after awhile because you'll be able to taste it better. Find something else to do as a "reward" for finishing your lunch. Honey sticks might work- they're the same shape, require hands and mouth, and taste damn good (if you like honey). Or learn to juggle.
Breaking associative smoking habits are the hardest. I killed the wakeup and after meal habits the last time I tried to quit 4 years ago, but created new ones about being on the phone and driving. Reassociation will help a lot.
Tomorrow is my first milestone- one week! And no real cravings, so I really think I'm done. Grossing myself out really seemed to work. Remember the last time you were sick? How much pain that cough was? How gross that goop was? Imagine having that for months non-stop and then dying because of it. Hell, imagine having it for days and then dying because of it. Not cute.
Ryan, welcome to your first day, IM or email anytime and I'm here for you.xo

Tue, September 27, 2005 - 8:31 AMDay six?! You're right behind me girl- that rocks! It's nice to have someone else so close to the same date- I stopped around midnight on Tuesday 9/20.
A cheap place to get honey sticks: www.wyomingnetwork.com/honey/...ex.html
You can get them in health food stores and such, but I found the internet to be more economical.

Re: does anyone know...
Wed, September 28, 2005 - 8:09 AMI'm still trying to figure out why I haven't really had any cravings...
But I extend the same to you and anyone else- anyone who needs to vent/scream/throw a fit I'll help you through it. I want us all to succeed and I know we can.
Alissa, I see you're in NY- fucken bitch walking through those crowds of people huddled outside their office doors isn't it? Just look at them and think about how pathetic it is. They have to put their whole lives on hold to go outside and get stinky and get in the way and pollute the air and pollute themselves. What a waste of time. They could be posting to Tribe instead. ;)!!
